On Friday Dec 9th A Huge Landslide In Palos Verdes at RAT Beach Came Crashing Down
A landslide in Palos Verdes occurred on Friday at Rat Beach near Palos Verdes Estates in Southern California. The cliff collapsed, sending dirt and rocks onto the beach below. Aerial video from FOX 11 Los Angeles showed the debris from the slide crashing into a maintenance vehicle that was parked on the beach below. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and people are being urged to avoid the area. A golf course sits atop the cliff where the landslide occurred.
According to a study published in September, the Palos Verdes area is one of the top spots on the California coast for cliff collapses, with coastline retreats happening at a rate of about 16 feet per year. This is a concerning development, as cliff collapses can lead to damage to nearby structures and pose a threat to public safety. It is important for authorities to monitor the situation and take steps to prevent future landslides in the area.
